League Rules

2014-15 Season

This league will be a 10-Owner/Team NO Keeper League. We will draft new players/rosters each year.

An annual rules evaluation meeting will be held each year following the end of the fantasy season.  This may be done via email, survey monkey, or an actual live meeting through Hangouts or Skype, etc.

We will continue to use NFL.com’s fantasy service since it is free and all league-collected fees will be redistributed to winners.

The fee (per year) will be $50/player. Unless you are the league Bitch (loser of the previous season’s Toilet Bowl) in which case your fee is $60. The extra $10 penalty is to cover the 14th week’s scoring champ payout that our $500 pool doesn’t quite cover.

Payouts will be as follows:

League Playoff Champion = $220
League Playoff Runner-Up = $50
Regular Season Divisional Champs = $50 each
Weekly Scoring Champ = $10 each week

All league fees are due prior to the first regular season NFL game kickoff. The league manager will manage the collection of fees and distribution of winnings. Winnings will be distributed at the conclusion of the NFL regular season. Specifics on payment methods will be reviewed in email.

Penalties: If a team has not paid their dues by Week 1, they will forfeit each game played while unpaid until their dues are paid in full. Teams that fail to pay entirely will be kicked out of the league with extreme prejudice and everlasting shame on their family name. Payouts will then be adjusted by % from the remaining pool.

The inaugural draft will be as soon as we can figure a date. Moving forward the draft will be at the end of July or beginning of August each year (depending on what works best for the most owners).

The draft will be conducted as a Live Online draft through the NFL.com website.

Inaugural draft order will be determined by random hat selection by the commissioner. The drawing will be recorded and witnessed by at least 2 other league members. No shenanigans will occur.

Future draft order will be determined by selection, as in each team will select what draft slot they want. The order of selection will be determined as follows:

  • First Selection = Winner of the previous season’s Toilet Bowl
  • Second Selection = Loser of the previous season’s Toilet Bowl
  • Third through eighth = Overall league standing by “Breakdown” calculation
  • Ninth Selection = Championship Game Runner-up.
  • Tenth Selection = if you can call it a selection, the league Champion.

This WILL be a snaking draft.

Each team will have 14 roster positions, and 9 of them will be active:

League is Head-to-Head style.

The league format will be two 5-team divisions that will remain the same each year.

Teams will play a total of 14 games during the regular season (NFL weeks 1-14).

Divisional opponents will play each other two times (8 games). Every team will play 4 of the cross-divisional team once and 1 of the cross divisional teams (randomly selected) twice (6 games).

Six (6) teams will make the playoffs that follow the regular season. Two (2) teams will play in the Toilet Bowl.

The playoffs will be single elimination, and will be played for three weeks (NFL weeks 15, 16, and 17).

Playoff bracket will be an NFL style bracket in which the highest seed will always play the lowest available seed.

The Toilet Bowl will also take place on week 15.

Regular season standings will be by division, so there will be two regular season divisional champs.

Playoff seeding will be done by division (1-3 in each division). The 4th seed in each division will stay home for the playoffs. The 5th seed in each division will play each other in the Toilet Bowl.

Regular season individual game tie-breaker will be team Total Yards (active players only).

All seeding or positional tie breakers will be decided as follows:

1. Head to head comparison.

2. Division Record.

3. The best “Breakdown” ranking.  Calculated manually and posted each week (site TBD) for all to see.

The loser of the toilet bowl is a shame upon the league and a disgrace to their family. As such they will be appropriately punished/shamed. The toilet bowl loser will suffer the indignity of…

  1. The winner of each year’s Championship Game will bestow upon the Toilet Bowl loser a new Team Name and a new Team Logo.
  2. The Team Name and Team Logo must remain in place on NFL.com until the following season when a new Toilet Bowl Loser is crowned and given a new name.
  3. At that point the previous year’s Toilet Bowl Loser will be able to re-institute their proper team name and logo as the shame has (hopefully) passed to another team.
  4. Also, the loser of the toilet bowl will be charged an extra $10 towards league fees for the following season. This is to cover the “extra” weekly payout for a 14-game schedule. Total league fees for the loser entering the next season = $60
